The Chinese Culture Post-International Salon on Folk Song Appreciation was held on June 11 in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, attracting around 20 foreign experts working in the region.

An official of Science and Technology Department (Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs) of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, organizer of the event, noted that ethnic groups living in Guangxi have their own distinctive folk songs, and the annual Nanning International Folk Song Arts Festival is popular among global ethnic music troupes.

Li Lin, an associate professor of Guangxi Arts University, said that the soul of ethnic music lies in its deeper meaning rather than the melody and singing, and the people of Guangxi are proud of their traditional music.

Nancy Eldars from the United Kingdom currently working at the Harrow Innovation Leadership Academy in Nanning said that it was her first time participating in the cultural experience activity held by the Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, and the event was excellent, allowing her to experience authentic folk songs.

The Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs has been on a campaign since 2017 to let foreign experts working in Guangxi learn more about the region by holding activities such as cultural experiences and policy promotion.
