The 2021 China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) Tourism Exhibition will take place in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region from Oct 15 to 17, officials announced during a press conference held in Beijing on July 28.

This year's exhibition, themed around pushing forward construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and boosting high-quality development of the tourism industry, will be held both online and on-site.

It is expected to deepen communication and cooperation in culture and tourism between China and ASEAN members, push forward the establishment of a mutual communication platform for culture and tourism to a higher level, and take more solid steps toward a China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

The on-site exhibition area covers around 25,000 square meters and is scheduled to gather travel agencies and companies from more than 50 countries and regions around the world as well as over 20 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China.

A total of six major exhibition halls will be set up including one for BRI countries, one for overseas high-quality tourism products and one for tourism equipment.

Three of the major exhibition halls will feature the transformation and upgrading of tourist consumption, speeding up the revival of the tourism economy and the high-quality development of tourism.

In addition, this year's exhibition will further optimize the structure of exhibitors and take a more active role in carrying out business matchmaking events.
