After years of hard work, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in the western region has realized normal operation and has shifted from laying its foundation to a new stage of rapid development.

Guangxi has focused on infrastructure construction and promoted the acceleration of major projects, such as the Qinzhou Railway Container Center Station and the railway siding to Tieshan Port of Beihai.

The scale of sea-rail freight trains operating on the main line of the land-sea corridor has expanded. Guangxi has opened five lines connecting Chongqing, Sichuan, Gansu, Guizhou, Yunnan, Qinghai, as well as other provinces and cities in western China, achieving seamless connection with the China-Europe trains.

In the first half of 2020, the cargo throughput and container throughput of Beibu Gulf ports reached 140 million tons and 2.13 million TEUs respectively, with an increase of 16.4 percent and 33.7 percent.

Guangxi has accelerated the reform and innovation of its customs clearance operations, implementing simple customs clearance modes to reduce clearance time. It has also improved the operating efficiency and quality of the Beibu Gulf International Gateway Shipping Service Center, attracting more than 100 shipping and logistics enterprises of various types to settle in it.

Guangxi has encouraged central enterprises, private enterprises, and enterprises from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to participate in the construction of the land-sea trade corridor in the western region. As of July 15, Guangxi had signed 119 projects, with an investment of 369.53 billion yuan ($52.86 billion), with central enterprises, 28 projects have been started, with a total investment of 32.25 billion yuan, and 440 projects are under discussion.

In addition, cross-field work mechanisms covering customs inspection, railways, and finance has been formed by several provinces, autonomous regions, and cities, such as Chongqing, Guangxi, Guizhou, Gansu, and Qinghai, to jointly integrate resources for the construction of the land-sea trade corridor.
