In recent years, Beihai High-tech Zone in Beihai, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has focused on innovation-driven high-quality development strategies to promote high-quality development. By the end of 2019, 716 innovative and entrepreneurial enterprises had settled in the park.

Build an innovation platform to attract investment and talents

In 2019, the zone gathered a large number of innovative companies, including Guangxi's first unicorn company Sina InMyShow, a new industrial service platform owned by Zongshen Industrial Group, a top 500 Chinese private enterprise, as well as Dhgate.com, the first domestic and B2B cross-border e-commerce trading platform with the largest transaction value.

The zone has also implemented a talent introduction program, attracting all kinds of high-level talents through online and offline recruitment service. As of 2019, a total of 4,487 people with a college degree or above were working in the zone.

Foster innovative enterprises for high-quality development

Since 2016, enterprises in the zone have applied for 1,183 invention patents and possessed 479 valid invention patents. A number of companies have won autonomous region-level awards, and many projects have been selected as key projects in the region.

At present, 30 companies in the zone have been listed in the Beibu Gulf Industrial Exchange. The zone boasts one academician workstation, two postdoctoral workstations, 47 high-tech enterprises, one talent hub for the marine biology industry, as well as more than 75 percent of the enterprise technology centers and engineering technology research centers in Beihai.

Improve service system to encourage corporate innovation

In order to build an enterprise innovation and entrepreneurship platform, the zone currently has an innovation center spanning 220,000 square meters. The core area of the zone has three national science and technology business incubators, four national maker spaces, as well as a number of autonomous region-level demonstration bases and incubators.

In the past three years, the zone has rewarded 1,500 innovation achievements, such as intellectual property rights obtained by enterprises, the establishment of R&D institutions, and innovation honors.

The zone has introduced various innovation and entrepreneurship competitions in order to gather resources to promote the development of innovative industries. Through a series of competitions, entrepreneurial projects in the zone have been cultivated.

In addition, enterprises in the zone has gradually integrated into the international market and regularly participate in international competition. For example, Yuanlong New Energy Vehicle Co built a pearl breeding base in Malaysia, set up a cooperation relationship with Universiti Malaysia Sabah, and established a China-Malaysia (International) Shellfish Laboratory in Guangxi.
