Overview

The China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) is co-sponsored by ministries and department of commerce or industry and trade of China and the 10 ASEAN member states, as well as the ASEAN Secretariat, and is organized by the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Having been successfully held for 15 sessions to date, CAEXPO has promoted and witnessed the continuous enrichment of the China-ASEAN strategic partnership, as well as the rapid improvement of economic and trade cooperation, playing an important role in serving the Belt and Road construction.

The 16th CAEXPO will be held from September 21 to 24 at Nanning International Convention & Exhibition Center (NICEC).

Five highlights of the 16th CAEXPO:  

1. New vision

A set of high-level friendly exchange activities will be organized around the ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership Vision 2030. This year's exhibition will highlight trade, investment, capacity cooperation, digital economy, technology, finance, e-commerce, tourism, and other areas covered by the Vision.

2. New hotspots

The 16th CAEXPO will focus closely on hot topics, such as the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, the China (Guangxi) free trade pilot zone, the financial gateway to ASEAN, the connection to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the China-ASEAN Information Harbor, to optimize exhibition content, as well as to hold special forums, promotion meetings, and matchmaking events.

3. New business opportunities

This year's CAEXPO will explore new business opportunities through more than 80 economic and trade activities, including promotion meetings of the 10 ASEAN countries, as well as domestic provinces and cities, roundtable conferences on investment cooperation, and investment fairs of industrial parks. A total of 33 forums will be hosted during the expo to publish high-end authoritative information on multi-domain cooperation, covering the fields of capacity cooperation, e-commerce, technology, environmental protection, agriculture, finance and taxation, as well as radio and television media. In addition, the first blue book of CAEXPO will help enterprises understand more information about the development of industrial parks in ASEAN countries.

4. New impact

The 16th CAEXPO will combine the 2019 China-ASEAN Year of Media Exchanges, holding events such as China-ASEAN TV Week, the China-ASEAN Radio and TV and New Media Forum, and the China-ASEAN Media Exchange, Cooperation, and Achievement Exhibition to strengthen cooperation and mutual benefits.

5. New experience

The agricultural exhibition of this year's CAEXPO will be held in the new Guangxi Agricultural Exhibition Center, which has double the exhibition area than prior CAEXPO sessions, as well as comprehensive supporting facilities. The online trade matching system will be launched for the first time to improve pairing accuracy and efficiency. In addition, CAEXPO will also launch its WeChat Mini Program, which provides functions like viewing exhibition information, applying for documents, and scheduling trips. The commercial complex of Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center was put into operation to provide customers with more food options and other services.

Major exhibitions:

1. Pavilion of Commodity Trade

Chinese commodity section: machine & equipment (engineering machinery & vehicles, food processing & packaging machinery, electrical power equipment & new energy), electronics & electrical appliances, general commodities section, and building materials.

ASEAN commodity section: brand products, food & agri-based products, furniture & furnishings, arts & crafts, jewelry and accessories, consumer goods, service products, raw materials, and coffee & food.

CAEXPO specialized exhibitions: agricultural exhibition, light industrial exhibition, forest & wood products exhibition, culture exhibition, and tourism exhibition.

2. Pavilion of Investment Cooperation

International economic cooperation: international engineering project contracting, labor cooperation, resource development, information technology, energy development, infrastructure construction, industrial parks development.

Agriculture cooperation: achievements of China-ASEAN agriculture cooperation, modern agriculture demonstration park, agricultural high-tech and investment projects.

3. Pavilion of Advanced Technology

Advanced manufacturing, smart cities, science and technology parks and innovative achievements, ASEAN science and technology innovation.

4. Pavilion of Trade in Services

Corporate financial services, tourism services.

5. Pavilion of Cities of Charm

China and the 10 ASEAN countries will choose their own "City of Charm" to be showcased at CAEXPO. Apart from showcasing city images, this pavilion will focus on exhibiting their latest achievements. Theme programs and networking activities will be arranged to promote city-to-city exchanges.

6. Trade and investment promotion activities

CAEXPO round-table meeting on investment cooperation, promotion conference on ASEAN industrial parks, investment promotion conferences of the 10 ASEAN member states and major Chinese provinces/cities, investment and fund-raising seminars, project signing ceremonies.

7. CAEXPO specialized and overseas exhibitions

Agricultural exhibition, light industrial exhibition, culture exhibition, tourism exhibition, forest and wood products exhibition, Bruneian exhibition, animation exhibition, Vietnamese exhibition.
