The Kingdom of Cambodia is located in the southern part of the Indochina Peninsula, and it is adjacent to Vietnam, Thailand and Laos.
Economy:
Cambodia's two largest industries are textiles and tourism, while agricultural activities remain the main source of income for many Cambodians living in rural areas. The service sector is heavily concentrated on trading activities and catering-related services. Recently, Cambodia has reported that oil and natural gas reserves have been found off-shore. Cambodia implements opening up and free market economic policies. In 2018, Cambodia's economic growth rate was 7.3 percent. Its total GDP reached $23.9 billion with a per capita value of $1,494. The total foreign trade volume was $32.4 billion.
Diplomacy:
Cambodia has established diplomatic relations with 172 countries. The Cambodian government strengthens friendly cooperation with neighboring countries and attaches great importance to developing relations with Japan, France, the United States, and other countries. It joined ASEAN in 1999 and assumed the presidency of ASEAN in 2012.
