Guangxi should revise local road safety regulations to keep up with rapid social development, said Wei Zhenling, deputy chief procurator of the Liuzhou People's Procuratorate, in an interview with people.cn.
According to Wei, there are an increasing number of two-way roads with more than four lanes in city centers and populous areas due to rapid urbanization, meaning article 31 of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Regulations on Road Safety is now in need of an update.
The article stipulates that a motor vehicle shall not exceed a speed of 80 kilometers per hour if driving on urban roads with more than two lanes going in the same direction and without any speed limit signs. The speed limit is set at 100 kilometers per hour if the vehicle is driving on an enclosed motor vehicle lane without any speed limit sign.
Wei advised relevant authorities to adjust speed limits to conform with current road conditions and traffic flow, while adding or renewing relevant traffic signs.
